After several years of working at The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) in a freelance capacity, Fernandez joined the Company in 1998. As senior vice president of Global Creative, Fernandez is responsible for driving the creative direction and brand identity for DCPI and Disney Parks Merchandise.
Fernandez works with licensees and partners throughout TWDC to create a cohesive statement for the intellectual properties at retail and at the Disney Theme Parks and Resorts. He and his team also develop and implement guidelines that preserve TWDC’s product integrity in order to provide authentic storytelling and high-quality, innovative products to consumers around the world.
Fernandez leads a dynamic team of designers, artists, project managers, multimedia specialists and writers to ensure creative consistency across all lines of business and to enhance the overall consumer experience. Together, they drive the creative message of DCPI and Parks Merchandise through exciting design, artwork, editorial and branding to deliver innovative products to consumers in all retail channels globally. As a result, they reinforce the emotional connection between the consumer and the Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm brands.
A native of Mexico City, Fernandez is fluent in Spanish. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in graphic design from California State University, Fullerton and has completed post-graduate work at the University of Southern California.
